Another session...more pics
This is actually the last portfolio sessions with this camera, as I now have my new Canon Rebel XT.This new Camera takes an amazing picture...and it is so easy to use! When I do start to be paid for my services, I will be starting small...looking to do mostly outdoor family/indivual shots to start off with and building from there. Indoor is a lot of moving furniture, putting up the sheets, putting the dogs away etc....but I will do it if requested. The people in these photos is Becca, Shelly and "Elmo". I decided to do these with a black background and keep them in color instead of just in black and white. LOL, I took less than last time actually, only 108 and narrowed it down from there. If you want to see the rest of my photos check http://www.freewebs.com/vickyperkinsphotography/

New photos .........
Okay, I have decided to take up photography for real. I thought "why not" and pooey on those who don't think I can do it because I can. So, I have created a website and started an online portfolio. I needed subjects to expand what i had so I gethered my friend and her little girl to start with. I took some together and seperate shots. LOL, well actually I took 225 pictures but I narrowed it down to about 60!
A lighting kit is about $600.00, which I will need. But I have a NEW CAMERA coming in the next couple of days...and this was really the major aspect holding me back. I had an awesome camera, but I need that additional flash for portraits.

A touch of spring............
Isn't it funny how spring works...one day there is no blossoms on flowers and the very nest morning you wake up and there are blossoms!!!!! I couldn't resist taking some macro shots of them. I have no idea what these flowers are but they are early bloomers.
Theis of of early blossoms from my rhodedonron plant.
This last picture is of a pansy (which seems to have no problem growing in my flowers bed!!!!

The little chicks.....
Well thid week at school the chicks were a hatching and the kids were going nuts!!!!! The kids were pretty excited on Monday to see a box in their classroom with 5 little chicks in it just a chirping away. I don't think I can quite explain the excitment of it for the kids.
So I thought they were excited until one hatched in class with us later in the week! I have to admit, watching it peck it's way of the shell was pretty dran cool! It's not so pretty tho once it comes out for about 4 hours. You can see their skin which by the way is see through and so they look like they are all blood and matted wet hair! But as the time went on their little hair puffs up and all the sudden you've got a little cuttie! This really set the kids in chaos tho, and it made the week long and I actually needed a nap at the end of each school day, LOL!!!!!!!!!
Today a duck hatched. The egg was much smaller than a chicken egg...therefor the little guy was very tiny compared to the chicks that hatched. He was black with yellow and I do not have a picture of him. He had troubly hatching (he even bled a little) and so I left the lid on the incubater so he could rest. He needed to dry out and get his balance before we fed him to the wolfs (the older chicks!!!)Anyway, he was cute and the class got it on video tape. It is school property, but if I can can a copy of it I will post it because it's neat.

Blog question #6...in 10 years
This weeks question is: where we would like to be 10 years from now! What do you think your life will be like in the year *yikes* 2017.... What do you hope to have happen in that time?
10 years from now I plan to be wherever Trent is. We have discussed in the past about leaving Nova Scotia for a while but whenever we come back it would mean we would have to start over in both of our jobs. We decided that wasn't an option so we will still be in Nova Scotia. Besides, this is where are family and friends are and therefore where we want to raise our children.
In 10 years I think that I will feel more settled into life. I will live in a house that I plan on living in for a longer period of time (more than 5 years anyway like this house), I plan on finally having a contract position in teaching and I plan on having 2 little ones running around our house. Finacially I think Trent and I will be in a better posotion, not that we hurting now...but just better. With both of us having fulltime income and our student loans being paid off, we will feel the freedom of being able to see some of the world and offer our children some experiences that neither of us had as children. I also hope that in 10 ten years the people I love (friends and family) are still in my life. Everyone is healthy and doing well.
As far as society goes...I hope that we take a turn and live more like the people did in the 50's. Like in the movie "My girl".I want my kids to be kids...not to be inside playing videogames/computer and to use an imagination in their playing. I want innocence for them. I want my children to play outside and be safe in doing so. I don't want the news to be plastered in school shootings and crime.
